Emily Yamaguchi

I focus on empathy in form and color using my anthropological background to understand the ways in which bodies, objects and myself exist in the world. I am interested in cultivating safe and novel forms of experiencing, viewing and creating art both within and outside of institutions.

My work explores the dimensions of a medium to transcend lived-reality; that is, works and their creative processes become channels into the Fantastic while relying on–perhaps even exploiting technical principles of art.

Futurity is vivified by the magic of the fantastic; the conception of a novel and learned world is radical fantasy.
